Atlético Ottawa Juniors wants to be your home for soccer. Recognized as a National level club by Canada Soccer, AOJ's ultimate goal for the U10-U18 Open program is to ensure that your child participates in a safe, fun and social environment and falls in love with the beautiful game. Whether your player simply wants to play with friends or aspires to be the next big star, AOJ's programs are designed to help kids move up our development pathway (see our Player Pathway).
What can I expect in the program?
Players participate in once-weekly match play against fellow AOJ Open League teams. These are entry-level leagues with a range of ability levels, where the objective is to play fun but challenging games with balanced teams.
Matches are run by senior youth players along with parent volunteers, most of whom are beginning their coaching journey. If you are interested in helping, please visit this page! Volunteer and paid positions are available depending on experience and commitment levels.
For all players U10-U18, teams are formed by gender taking into account registered players' ages and experience to make fun leagues with balanced teams. Our anticipated Open leagues are listed below, although they are subject to minor adjustment based upon actual registration numbers in each group.
Staff Coach: Kylen Grant
Having spent her entire youth career at AOJ predecessors Cumberland United and Ottawa TFC, Kylen has returned to the club as a key member in both the innovative Sports-Études program as well as the club’s Open programs. In 2019, Kylen was a starter on the OTFC U17 Girls team that won the club’s first ever National Championship. After graduating from our High Performance Academy, she spent 4 years playing in the NCAA with Syracuse University, serving as a captain in her final year. Always returning home in the summers, Kylen has been a mainstay in both the club’s Women’s team and as a seasonal coach in the Grassroots and Open programs. With almost a decade of coaching experience at the club, Kylen is truly one of our own, and has a deep commitment to the club and its community. We are thrilled to have her as a part of taking the club to the next level.
