ATLÉTICO OTTAWA
JUNIORS
U5-U9 | SUMMER 2026
GRASSROOTSBASE PROGRAM
Atlético Ottawa Juniors is honoured to introduce the beautiful game of soccer to your child. The Grassroots base program is our core summer program for young players of all levels and abilities, involving a mix of technical development and small-sided game-play! It's where kids across Orleans, Gloucester and beyond learn to love soccer.
Players in the U2-U4 age group (born 2022-2024) are welcome to register for the U2-U7 Drop-in programs.
Eligibility: boys and girls born 2017-2021
• No evaluation/tryout required
Commitment: 1 session/week (or sign up for both)
• Fridays (Orleans): U5-U7: 5:15 PM | U8-U9: 6:30 PM
• Mondays (Gloucester): U5-U7: 6 PM | U8-U9: 7 PM
Season dates:
• Fridays (Orleans): May 29 - Aug. 28 (12 weeks)
• Mondays (Gloucester): May 25 - Aug. 24 (12 weeks)
Registration fee: $250 (+ non-volunteer fee)
Players at this age are starting their "careers" in soccer and need to develop their basic skills appropriately (including technical, physical and social skills). The weekly 1-hour session consists of various skills exercises as well as small games. Players are grouped by age and gender.
Sessions are run by our most talented senior youth players, who are beginning their coaching journey at the club. The coaches are guided/supervised by our academy staff coaches and are embarking on the Canada Soccer coach certification pathway. If you are interested in helping as a coach, click here to visit our Careers and Coaching page.
Players and parents must abide by the Atlético Ottawa Juniors Code of conducts, which can be found on the website under our Governance page.
The registration fee includes a training shirt, shorts and socks, a soccer ball and a year-end memento. The uniform will be distributed prior to the season on a uniform handout date in May (to be announced). Players are required to wear the given uniform, protective shin guards and shoes at all sessions (can be bought at any sports store). Soccer cleats are allowed and recommended for all age groups but not necessary.
IMPORTANT: Players are required to bring their soccer ball to each session. We please ask the parent/guardian to clearly identify the ball with the player's name once it is received.
Staff Coach: Logan Richardson
Having grown up playing at the club his entire youth career, Logan has transitioned into a substantial coaching role at AOJ, plying his trade in a wide array of programs. Even at a young age, Logan's leadership qualities are apparent and he leads by example as a player and as a coach. He is continuing his coaching journey throughout university and is taking on more and more responsibilities at the club, including leadership roles in the Grassroots and Pre-Competitive programs.

If you would like to request a friend for your child to play with, please enter their name during the registration process. Friend request considerations as well as balancing of group sizes will be taken into account. Please note that a friend request will only be granted if both players request to play with each other.
At these ages, language considerations can be taken into account to ensure each child's experience is a positive one. Please indicate your preference during the registration process when prompted.
Atlético Ottawa Juniors programs will be taking a summer break during which programs will not run, unless otherwise stated. This season's break will take place between Monday July 20 and Sunday August 2, 2026. Activities will be resuming as scheduled on the week of Monday, August 3, 2026.
